Government confirm push to get households the cheapest deals

Posted on 2013-04-04

The government have confirmed that they still intend to ‘force energy companies to give customers their cheapest deals’, rather than allowing them to continue to assign customers to their more expensive ‘standard’ tariffs.

The claim comes following a series of planned government energy reforms, announced last year, and hopes to help cut the cost of bills for British households. The plans also aim to simplify energy bills, making then clearer for customers to understand.

It is however worth bearing in mind that whilst the new tariff offered may be your supplier’s cheapest, it may not necessarily be the cheapest on the market.

The government will announce the full details of the tariff overhaul in March and the plan looks likely to come into effect next year.
