With the private rented sector now becoming the second largest tenure type in the UK with 4.4 million households, as well as the most rapidly expanding sector, we wanted to know more about the private tenants of today. So we asked our tenant customers to fill in a quick survey – hoping to learn a little more about who they really are and how they compare to the ‘averages’.
Once we had our answers, we created this handy infographic – which shows the ‘typical tenant’ in each region of the UK, with some surprising results.
The information we asked for from our tenant customers included:
- What rent they pay
- Why they rent
- How old they are
- Their marital status
- What their occupation is
- If they have any hobbies
We got lots of responses to our survey, and whittled them down to a few randomly selected tenants from a number of regions across the UK, including the South West, the East Midlands, the West Midlands, London, the South East and the North West.
We think this is an interesting way for other tenants, in the same regions, to compare themselves and consider whether they’re above or below the averages, whether they relate to these averages and see where else they could live on their respective incomes.
